Grapefruit and Diet and Weight Loss
Â
A Louisiana State University study discovered that people who included half a grapefruit a day in their diet lost about four pounds in 3 months. The people who took part in the study did not alter any other parts of their diets.
The study also showed that they lowered their blood pressure by six points. Oh, this is enough to reduce the risk of stroke by 40 percent. Researchers think that the acidity of the grapefruit slows down the rate of digestion, thereby keeping you full much longer.
Now what if the fruit is not readily available? The scientists said that for weight loss, eight (8) ounces of the juice in each serving is equally effective. Also, a new study confirmed that grapefruit juice contains more heart-healthy antioxidants.
So, next time try looking for that grapefruit juice in the grocery shelves and include them in your daily diet. Â
